40th Anniversary of Stilwell’s Learning Center, LLC

January 2010, marked the 40^th anniversary of Stilwell’s Learning Center, LLC.  Approximately 15,000 students have utilized Stilwell’s multi-media, multi-sensory services and have overcome all types of learning problems.

Chuck Stilwell, MA is the Owner/Director of Stilwell’s Learning Center, LLC and is National Vice President and Independent Consultant to Expressways To Learning®, Inc. (ETL). Mr. Stilwell continues to be involved in training teachers and helping to improve and upgrade all of ETL’s learning systems used at Stilwell’s Learning Center, LLC in Sierra Vista.

Chuck Stilwell’s Autobiographical Sketch

Chuck Stilwell has been an educational consultant for over 40 years. Formerly, he served as a teacher in Congo, Africa. Upon returning to the USA, he served as a vice principal and teacher in one of 4 separate sixth grade outdoor education locations in San Diego, California for 2 years. Next, he taught for several years in a low income area of San Diego with 5^th and 6^th grade classrooms. The classrooms had 40 students, all below a 2^nd grade level when he began.  By the end of each year the students demonstrated nearly two years gain in academics. During those years, Mr. Stilwell helped design a learning system used in a center he owned and directed and with which he finally ventured into full-time business in 1972.  Mr. Stilwell has a Master’s Degree in Education/Human Behavior from United States International University in San Diego, CA. with an emphasis in dealing with children and teens with Dyslexia and other Learning Disabilities.The 75 students used in his thesis project were the lowest scholastically in a school of 900. In 7 months they had made 2.7 years growth in reading with his phonics learning project.

 Presently, Mr. Stilwell is also a consultant with Christian schools and private learning centers in California and American Samoa. He also oversees two learning centers in Mexico teaching English as a second language.

Mr. Stilwell is in his 42nd year of marriage with his lovely wife, Sue. She owns  S & S Tours, specializing in Latin American tours. They have 2 wonderful sons, a lovely daughter-in-law and 3 adorable granddaughters. Their older son lives with his family in Sierra Vista and operates Sun’N-Spokes Bike Shop on Fry Blvd. Chuck & Sue Stilwell’s younger son is a contractor in Bozeman, Montana, with a degree in Hotel Management and Tourism. He loves Montana and the great outdoors.

Teachers, Tutors and Staff

Ashley Stilwell, granddaughter of Chuck Stilwell, has worked every one of ETL’s learning systems. As a college student, she is working with SLC.  She helps those, particularly, who need instruction in higher math and more one-on-one tutoring.

Sharon Havins has a caring and gentle manner making her a favorite with younger students. She has been with  Stilwell’s Learning Center, LLC since 2001. She is loyal and faithful and sees her work as a mission  to help children, teens and adults. She helps them not only  to excel, but become productive in life. Her hope is that students will recognize their God-given abilities,be freed of learning difficulties and receive God’s goodness on a daily basis.

Christina Reaves has a child who has been greatly helped by Stilwell’s Learning Center, LLC. She has a background in health and nursing skills and is very good with children, teen and adults. She is a wonderful addition to Stilwell’s Learning Center, LLC.
